Garlic Wasabi Aioli Sauce

This wasabi aioli is a perfect blend of creamy and spicy—where the smooth richness of aioli meets the bold heat of wasabi. It’s got a slight zing that wakes up your taste buds, but the mayo base keeps it from being too overpowering. My husband is not a fan of spicy, but loves this sauce!

It’s amazing as a dipping sauce, drizzled over seafood or sushi, or even spread onto a sandwich for an unexpected kick. My favorite way to use it? Dipping sauce for sweet potato fries! Think of it as the secret weapon that makes everything a little more exciting.

Plus, it’s so quick and easy to make! You most likely have all the ingredients, except for maybe wasabi powder. This can be found at most co-op stores, “fancy” grocery stores, or online. Once you have that on hand, this can be mixed up and ready in just a few minutes.

First, let’s chat about the main ingredient, mayonnaise. My family has been working to eliminate seed oils, and sticking to avocado, olive, coconut and palm based products. Most mayo in groceries stores is made from highly processed seed oils like soybean, canola, sunflower, vegetable and more.

So, what’s the deal with seed oils? Some people swear they’re terrible, while others say they’re not a big deal. Here’s why they get a bad rap:

  • Lots of omega-6s: Seed oils—like soybean, canola, and sunflower—are loaded with omega-6 fatty acids. While we do need omega-6s, getting too much (especially without enough omega-3s to balance it out) might contribute to inflammation over time.
  • Heavy processing: Many seed oils go through a lot of refining, which can strip away nutrients and introduce questionable byproducts.
  • Heat sensitivity: Some seed oils break down easily at high temperatures, forming compounds that aren’t exactly great for your health. This is why when I’m cooking, I stick with ghee, avocado oil, coconut oil, and sometimes olive oil.

So what mayo should you use? Here are some great healthier mayo options I have actually tried!

  1. Chosen Foods 100% Avocado Oil-Based Classic Mayonnaise – This is my #1 top pick, and what my family has landed on as our favorite. The avocado is so mild that it tastes the closest to regular mayonnaise.
  2. Sir Kensington’s Avocado Oil Mayo – I love this brand overall and use many of their products. This is my backup mayo if I can’t find the Chosen brand.
  3. Primal Kitchen Mayo made with Avocado Oil – This is another great brand, and I use many of their products too. Their avocado oil mayo isn’t in my top 2 but it’s still good. It has a stronger flavor than the other two listed, less like traditional mayo, so it was veto’d from my house by my kiddos:)

Making this Garlic Wasabi Aioli Sauce is so easy! Put all ingredients into a small cup or dish and stir it until everything is well combined. Pop it in the fridge for a bit until you are ready to eat. This will also help the flavor develop. That’s it, it’s that easy!

You can keep this aioli refrigerated in an airtight container for a few days, just be sure to stir before using again.
