Who doesn’t love cookie dough?! With the rise of edible cookie dough, I wanted to create an at-home version with a protein boost. These monster cookie dough protein balls are quick, easy, and seriously addictive—so watch out! You won’t want to eat just one.

This sweet treat is perfect for a picnic, birthday party, or any gathering. Or, just stash some in the fridge for when a sugar craving hits!

Do your kids love helping in the kitchen? This recipe is so easy and fun that mine always jump in to make it with me. And since this ‘cookie dough’ has no raw flour or eggs, it’s completely safe to eat—so no need to worry about sneaking little taste tests along the way!

Start by adding all the ingredients to a bowl and stirring until well combined. For protein powder, I always use Eniva Grass Fed Clean & Natural 100% Protein Isolate Powder, but you can absolutely try other vanilla protein powders. Depending on your protein powder and peanut butter, you may need to tweak the measurements slightly. The dough should have a classic cookie dough consistency—not too dry, not too sticky. I recommend starting with the listed measurements, then adjusting as needed by adding more peanut butter if it’s too dry or more protein powder if it’s too wet or sticky.

Once the dough is fully combined, line a pan with parchment paper. Using your hands, roll the dough into balls slightly smaller than a golf ball. If the dough is too sticky, it may be too wet—add a little more protein powder to fix it. On the other hand, if it’s too dry and crumbly to form balls, mix in a bit more peanut butter.

This recipe makes about 20 edible cookie dough balls, though the exact number depends on their size (and how much taste-testing you do along the way 😉). Once all the dough is rolled into balls, place the pan in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. After that, they should be firm enough to eat!

Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze them for up to 3 months. If frozen, let them thaw in the fridge before enjoying!

You might already have many of these ingredients in your pantry! If not, here are a few of my favorites:

  • Bob’s Red Mill Organic Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • Eniva Vanilla Clean & Natural 100% Protein Isolate Powder, Grass Fed
  • Enjoy Life Semi Sweet Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Skippy Natural Creamy Peanut Butter

Prep Time:20 minutes mins
Course: Breakfast, Snack
Servings: 20 balls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter (I recommend using natural or organic. See notes at the end of the recipe for more information.)
  • 3/4 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup vanilla protein powder (I only used Eniva Clean & Natural Grass Fed 100% Protein Isolate Powder. See notes at the end of the recipe if using a different powder.)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 Tbsp mini chocolate chips
  • 3 Tbsp mini M&M’s

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix until well incorporated.
  • Line a cookie or baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Using your hands, roll the dough into balls slightly smaller than a golf ball and place them on the pan.
  • Once all the dough is rolled into balls, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Enjoy! Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer for up to 3 months. If frozen, thaw in the fridge before eating.

Notes

The consistency of the dough should resemble typical cookie dough—neither too dry nor too sticky. Depending on the protein powder and peanut butter you use, you may need to adjust measurements. If the dough is too dry, add a bit more peanut butter; if it’s too wet or sticky, mix in more protein powder. I recommend starting with the listed measurements and adjusting as needed to get the perfect texture.
